Anita "Joy" Denton, 71, of Georgetown, TN, found eternal rest in the arms of her Savior on June 13, 2025.
Joy is preceded in death by her son, Adam Taylor, her mother, Irene Roark, her father, Haney Roark, and her brother, Philip Roark.
Joy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Chris Denton, who faithfully stayed by her side and cared for her until the end.
Joy leaves behind her daughter, Kelly (Wade) Ledford, to cherish her memory. Kelly devoted her entire life to taking care of her mother. The bond that they shared is one that will never be replaced.
Left also to cherish Joy's memory, her three granddaughters, who were the light of her life, Mallory (Jesse) Cogdell, Morgan Ledford, and Madeline Ledford.
Joy also leaves behind two great grandsons, Taylor and Jace Cogdell. They brought so much excitement and love during the last two years of Joy's life.
Joy leaves behind two sisters, Jean Holder and Janice Cooper, who remained her closest friends for all of her life. Many nieces, nephews, and friends are also left to cherish Joy's memory.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga, including Julia and Margie of the Cleveland team, who took excellent care of Joy at the end of her life. The family also extends their gratitude and appreciation to Brian, Joy's home health nurse, who became like family.
A service for Joy will be held at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel, Monday, June 23, 2025. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm. Funeral will immediately follow with Pastor Clint Ledford officiating. Interment will follow at Birchwood Baptist Church in Birchwood, Tennessee.
Mark Cooper, Terry and Erin Dake, Chip Roark, Randy Roark, Mark Haralson, Seth Haralson, and Tony Moorehead will serve as pallbearers.
