It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann (Hickey) Marzano, a vibrant and spirited woman who meant so much to so many. Ann passed away peacefully at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family in her home in Glastonbury, CT, on March 25, 2025. Ann, affectionately known as "Grr," was born in Hartford, CT, on January 29, 1942, to the late William Hickey and Mary (Donahue) Hickey. She was raised in Hartford with her four siblings: Billy, Kathy, Mary, and Rita. Ann graduated from Weaver High School in 1960 and entered the workforce at the age of 18 at Aetna Insurance Group. From there, she went on to work in administrative roles at Advest, eventually ending her career at the West Hartford Board of Education at the age of 62. Ann married the love of her life, Donald J. Marzano, on April 4, 1964, and until Donald's passing in October 2019, they had been married for 55 years.
The greatest joy of Ann's life were her two children, Lisa and Eileen, and her three beautiful grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan, and Kyleigh. Ann had a deep love for the beach and spent many summers vacationing in Hampton Beach, Cape Cod, and Newport. In her later years, she became a devoted fan of the UConn Women Huskies, a passion she shared with her late husband, even traveling to San Antonio, Texas, for a Final Four tournament. Ann had a natural ability to connect with people and cared deeply for everyone she knew. She was never afraid to share an opinion, no matter her audience. She had a fierce loyalty to her family and all she loved. Her support was unconditional - she was always there to listen and advise. She was full of life and love, never one to miss a party.
Ann is survived by her two daughters, Eileen Marzano of Glastonbury and Lisa Schuck and her husband Todd of Glastonbury; her three grandchildren, Ashley Marzano of West Hartford and Ryan and Kyleigh Schuck of Glastonbury; and several nieces, nephews and their beautiful children, whom she adored. Ann will also be lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Rita Ford (John) and Kathy Daries (Neil) and sorely missed by countless friends. Ann will be reunited in spirit with her siblings, Mary Rizzuto and William Hickey, and one of her dearest friends, Deb Roberts.
Family and loved ones are invited to gather on Sunday, (March 30), from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.
