Anna Jo Potter Creech passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born May 20, 1933, in Packard, KY, to William Harrison and Mollie Anderson Potter.
"Jo" was a graduate of Pruden High School, Pruden, TN, and Cumberland College, with a degree in Education. She received her Master's Degree from Union College.
She was a life-long educator, who began her career at Cumberland Elementary, where she taught until 1989. After retiring and moving to Corbin, she continued as a substitute teacher for many years.
Cumberland, KY is also where she met her husband, John Donald, Sr., who she treasured.
Jo and John were long-time members of Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, where they served in many capacities. After moving to Corbin, she and John became members of Lynn Camp Baptist Church, where they both served faithfully.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 40 years, John Donald Creech, Sr., and her eight siblings and their spouses: Aline (Huey) Petrey, Charlie (Opal) Potter, Jean (Roy) Hamlin, Harry Potter, Ed (Charlene) Potter, Alva (Dorothy) Potter, Georgia (Jim) Laurent, and Pat (Spencer) Harrell.
She is also survived by her son Don and wife Cindy, of Corbin; grand-daughters, Mackenzie (Matthew) Strickland of Williamsburg, and Dr. Mollie (Shawn) Siler of Corbin; four great-grandchildren: Caleb, Andrew and Sadie Strickland, and Quinn Siler: a special nephew and niece, Tom and Rita Hamlin, of Cumberland, KY and may other nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her beloved caregivers, whom she cherished: Stephanie Smith (Kyson & Luke), Jamie Gentry (Memphis, Lydia & London), Carrie "Nikki" Engle, Brittany Collett, Hospice, their love and caring has been priceless.
Over the last six years, she has received excellent care from the staff and doctors at Baptist Health, Grace Health, Christian Health Center, Whitley County Health Department Home Health, and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lynn Camp Baptist Church, 703 Lynn Camp Church Road, Corbin, Ky 40701 (606) 528-8410.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. November 24, 2024 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Moore and Rev. Tim Bargo officiating with burial following in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2024 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Tom Hamlin, Charles Potter, Matt Strickland, Caleb Strickland, Shawn Siler, Spence Harrell, Terry Disney, David Riherd, Greg, Gluck, and Jody Gluck.
