MORENCI-Anna Marie Kerns, age 72, of Morenci, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday evening, July 13, 2025. She was born September 30, 1952, in Toledo, OH, the oldest of nine from the union of the late James and Dorothy (Never) Gifford.
Anna grew up in Blissfield where she attended school. She married John Lester Kerns on June 12, 1970, in Palmyra. Together they raised four children and recently celebrated 55 years of happy marriage.
Anna was a wonderful selfless mother who loved to cook, and was renowned for her special potato salad. She enjoyed being outside tending to her beautiful gardens of flowers and vegetables each summer. An animal lover, she was always willing to adopt a new pet into her family. She had a vast collection of Amish dolls, art and memorabilia, and rarely missed a chance at a bargain at a local garage sale.
Anna had an outgoing and happy-go-lucky personality and loved to socialize with anyone, never knowing a stranger. She loved to sing Patsy Cline karaoke at the Pub. Her bright light in this world will be missed.
Surviving in addition to her husband, John Sr., are a son, John (Sonya) Kerns, Jr. of Adrian; two daughters, Carrie (Kevin) Drow of Williston, FL and Wendy Kerns (Nathan Darm) of Morenci; siblings, Brenda (Russ), Linda, Dody, Joan (Randy), and William; a sister-in-law, Virginia Gifford; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Jessica, Daniel, Mathew, John, Joshua, Devin, Damien, Michael, and Jennifer; a week-old great-grandson, Jackson; and her beloved canine girls, Sissy and Luna.
Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in her death by her daughter, Kristi Lynn Kerns; siblings, Virginia, Jim, and Shari (Jay); and a brother-in-law, Junior McGinnis. In accordance with Anna's wishes, cremation will take place. The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 16, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Morenci Sportsman Club.
Memorial contributions can be given to the Lenawee Humane Society. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Morenci.
