Anthony Summa

Anthony R. Summa of Jefferson Township, PA died Thursday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marlene McGowan Summa. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Anthony V. and Ann Kaminskas Summa. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He attended North Carolina State and was a graduate of the University of Scranton.

Tony was an active member of the Scranton Chapter of UNICO National and was recognized with the Al Dante Distinguished Service Award, he was also a dedicated member of LaFesta Italiana for many years serving as a leader of the Grounds Committee.

Community service was Tony's passion. He was a dynamic member of Saint Eulalia's Church, Elmhurst, serving as a Lector, Eucharist Minister and served on various committees and parish fundraisers. In addition, he often spent time assisting at the North Pocono Food Pantry.

As an amateur photographer, he took great pride standing on the sidelines or in the bleachers, taking and distributing photos for generations of North Pocono athletes. Prior to retirement he held several management positions for the Flowserve Corporation, Moosic.

Also surviving are sons, Tony(wife Leann) Kennett Square and Chris, Jefferson Twp. His grandchildren, who were the pride of his life, Luke, Isabella, Gabriel, Mia and Grace. As well as, sister-in-law Anita Ciaglia, Moscow. Niece Tracey Gallagher, Peckville, nephew Mark Gallagher(wife Kristen) Moscow and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff and the medical professionals of Hematology & Oncology Associates of NEPA.

Private funeral services will be conducted from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral home 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore. Interment was private. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Pocono Food Pantry C/O St. Eulalia's Church 214 Blue Shutters Rd Roaring Brook Twp, 18444 or the St. Eulalia's Building Fund, address above.
