Ardeth M. Deay

Ardeth M. Deay, 82, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at her home. She was born in Schenectady, New York on June 19, 1943, to William and Katey Deay. She graduated from Schalmont High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta, Master's degree from Syracuse University and after teaching at several schools in New York, she earned her PhD from Cornell University.
Ardeth was a professor at West Virigina University in Morgantown until her retirement in 2010. She enjoyed world travel, the arts, and spending time with friends and family. As a lifelong learner, she continued to explore spirituality and how unique life is. She volunteered giving back to her community in many ways. She volunteered at Galway Central School, Friends of the Library due to the importance of literacy, and was a mediator for the Schenectady Schools to help advocate for fairness.
Ardeth is survived by her sisters Marcia Migdal and Noresta Baker, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her sisters Dolores Simmons and Jacqueline Sprague.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour on Sunday, December 14 from 1pm to 2pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 2pm. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Galway in the Spring.
