Ardith June (Morton) Christadore, 93, of Willimantic wife of Fred J. Christadore passed away Tuesday October 1, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Murray Morton and Mae E. Brown.
Born on February 11, 1931 in Stafford Springs, CT she grew up in Storrs with her large extended family. She loved animals and nature and talked about riding her blind pony on King Hill Rd.
She attended Storrs Grammar School and graduated from Windham High School in 1948. She married Fred Christadore in 1951. She was a homemaker and a 4H leader, who continued her love of riding with her children as they participated in horse shows and events throughout New England. She joined the Willimantic Home Economics Club after moving to Willimantic in 1970 and made many close friends. She especially loved taking trips with them to Walton's Mountain, Niagra Falls and South Carolina to name a few. She also enjoyed traveling to see her daughter in California and her cousin in Arizona. She especially loved the Southwest Region and civil war history. She rescued and adopted many animals over the years including offering sanctuary to abused horses for the Humane Society. She was a staunch supporter of PETA and the CT Humane Society. She was an avid collector of antiques her entire adult life and even as recently as last week was out antiquing with her nephew, Shawn. She had a real flair and sense of style in both her home and her wardrobe. She received compliments all the time on how stylish she was.
Besides her husband Fred, she leaves a daughter, Melinda Christadore Ramm of Albany, CA; a son, Fred J. Christadore of Pawling, NY; a sister, Maureen Ryan of Manchester; 2 grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Christadore of Vernon and Erin Lynn Christadore of Brewster, NY; and 2 nephews, Mark Babcock of Coventry and Shawn Babcock of North Windham. She was predeceased by a grandson, Todd M. Ramm.
