Armilda Harley Obituary Armilda Joan Boone Harley (nee Pray) of Long Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at
home with loved ones by her side. Armilda is survived by her cherished companion
Louis Oberhauser and seven adoring nieces and nephews.
Born April 11,1926 in Chehalis, Washington, Armilda enjoyed a happy childhood with her
parents John and Edna Boone and her two younger brothers John "Daniel" and Gordon. The
family owned and ran Boone Mortuary and Funeral Home. Many family summers were
spent oceanside in Cannon Beach, Oregon until replaced with family wintering in the Palm
Springs area.
Like her mother, Armilda graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California. After which
Armilda moved to Seattle and worked for Northwest Orient Airlines where she eventually met and married Allan Pray. The young couple moved around with the company before settling down in Minnesota. After many years of successful marriage Allan and Armilda divorced but ultimately remained close friends.
In the early 1990s Armilda married Don Harley and the two happily enjoyed a wonderful life until Don passed away in 2010.
When a first date on the golf course revealed an immediate connection so began Armilda and Lous courtship and new love spanning the next 15 years. As a couple, the two shared
everything, enjoying laughter, companionship, eating well, golf, beach holidays, the California Desert and their beloved pets. Lous love, compassionate care and home chef skills brought out the best in Armilda, but it was his humorous touch that always rewarded him with her twinkling eyes and grin. Armilda was an adventurer, explorer and perpetual student whose worldwide activities brought her a broad array of lifelong friends. In her youth she studied the violin and its written Armilda played beautifully. She also loved the piano and late in life even began learning the Ukulele! Some of her greatest satisfactions include climbing a portion of Mount Everest, certification as a small plane pilot, driving fast and powerful cars and those years with her horses and barn friends while becoming an accomplished horsewoman in Dressage. One of Armildas most favorite experiences was being invited to sit in the cockpit of the Concorde during a flight to Europe.
Armilda will be remembered for the sparkle in her eyes accompanied by that impish grin and laughter. She lived a remarkable life, filled with strength, spirit and elegance. Truly one of a kind and a trailblazer in many ways. She remains a very special person in the lives of those who knew her and is deeply missed.
