Arnold George Goupil, affectionately known as Arnie, age 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in West Branch, MI. He was born on August 11, 1939, in Whittemore, MI to Arthur and Ulene (Cataline) Goupil. He is leaving behind a legacy of entrepreneurship and community involvement that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He married his high school sweetheart, Roberta “Bobbi” Enos.
For over 30 years, Arnie and his wife owned Arnie's Arts 'N' Crafts, along with two hardware stores and several other businesses in the Houghton Lake area. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for teaching others about the joys of creativity and craftsmanship. He was a beloved figure in the community, known for his warmth and love for people. Arnie's energetic personality shone brightly, and he truly enjoyed engaging with those around him.
Beyond his business endeavors, Arnie cherished his time spent outdoors. Riding his bike brought him great joy, as did various sports. His zest for life was evident to all, and he inspired many with his enthusiasm and unwavering spirit.
He is survived by his three devoted daughters, Terri (Mark) Pacella, Jan (Bill) Littmann, and Lori (Andy) Cameron. Arnie also took pride in being a grandfather to ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Dean (Jackie) Goupil and Rick (Jana) Goupil.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his brother, Gary Goupil.
The family extends a special thanks to The Brook of West Branch and Compassus Home Health and Hospice for their dedicated support and care.
Cremation has taken place, and service will be held at a later time.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
