Arthur W. Broussard, ""Art"", of
Cotuit, MA, died on April 29, 2025 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, MA following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary P. (Donovan) Broussard with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Art was born on October 9, 1948 to his late parents Winifred A. Broussard and Mary A. (Burns) Broussard, in Boston, MA. Following his graduation from Randolph High School, Art began what would be his lifelong career in the automobile industry. He loved his work, and excelled, earning the Service Cadillac Award which meant winning a trip to Rome!
Art proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in the service, he received many accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Expert Badge (M-14 Rifle), the Marksman Badge (M-16 Rifle), and the Sharpshooter Badge (M-60 Machine). He was also a trained Amphibian Engineer.
When Art was not working, he was an active member of the Monument Beach Sportsman Club where he made lifelong friendships and earned sportsmen awards. In his younger years he enjoyed softball and hockey, and more recently liked watching baseball and going fishing. Additionally, he and Mary joined a bowling league, something they enjoyed doing together. He was also a man of faith and was a parishioner at Christ the King Church, in Mashpee. More than anything, Art is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and ""Bampy"" and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Art is survived by his wife, Mary Broussard, of
Cotuit, MA; his daughter Danielle LaRue, of St. Augustine, FL; his son Michael O'Brien, of Cornish, ME; his grandchildren Lexi DeMello of Saint Augustine, FL, Choyce LaRue of Saint Augustine, FL, Carsyn LaRue, of Saint Augustine, FL, Mark O'Brien of Norton, MA, and Brad O'Brien of Raynham, MA; his great-grandchildren Skyler Ray, Sabyn Ray, and Sylvie Ray, all of St. Augustine FL; his siblings Barbara Broussard, of Litchfield, NH, Paul Broussard, of Randolph, MA, Linda Phelan, of Carver, MA, Phyllis Johnson, of Seattle, WA, Steven Broussard, of Seattle, WA, and Ann Eule, of Litchfield, NH. Art was preceded in death by his brother, John Broussard.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 5 Job's Fishing Rd., in Mashpee. Burial will follow on Wednesday, May 5, 2025 at 1:45 PM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
