Ashley Watrous (Hanson) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2025.
Ashley was born on October 1, 2002, at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She was raised in the Lake Geneva area and graduated high school at Badger High School in 2021. That same summer Ashley and her high school sweetheart Kaleb Watrous moved to Colorado to start what they called their "adventure". They spent their time in Colorado camping, hiking and planning future adventures. In the fall of 2022 Ashley was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, and Ashley and Kaleb have lived life to the fullest since. The two married on February 2, 2024, in Burlington, Wisconsin and spent much of the last couple of years traveling and enjoying the world. Ashley lost her battle with cancer at home with her loved ones on September 11, 2025. Ashley loved long car rides with her best friend Madison, planning date nights with her husband, attending concerts with her dad, long talks with her mom, cuddles with her beloved dogs Basil and Kobe, having family dinners at her in-laws, and relished teaching her niece Karmin the ins and outs of beauty and self-care. Ashley loved fiercely and forgave swiftly. She was kind to everyone she met and an ally to ALL. She was a dear friend to so many, and being her friend was easy because she loved you through everything. She is already deeply missed. Ashley is survived by her husband, Kaleb Watrous; father, Bret Hanson; mother, Christine Hanson (Raum DiVarco); paternal grandparents, Patti and Richard Kaempflein and Lynn and Ann Hanson; maternal grandparents, Norman Sr. and Carole Hill; uncles, Norman Jr. (Cheryl) Hill and Joel Hanson (Tom Parsons); cousin, Brandon (Mikhaylia) Hill and their children, Michael and Riley; father and mother-in-law, Eric and Michele De La Paz; brothers-in-law, Patrick and Noah (Ellie) Watrous; sister-in-law, Delilah Garcia; niece and nephew, Karmin and Erickson Garcia; grandparents-in-law, Larry and Laurie Watrous; many aunts, uncles and cousins from all sides; her dearest friend, Madison Toflinski; and large community of friends that she loved as family. A Celebration of Life for Ashley will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Rotary Botanical Gardens, 1455 Palmer Dr., Janesville, WI. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
