Athera Grant

In the heart of Gloucester Township, New Jersey, a light known as Athem Grant was radiated, spreading joy, humor, and wisdom to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born Athera Elizabeth Grant on March 30, 1974, in Camden, NJ, Athem, affectionately known to many as "Vera," was a vibrant spirit who left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones.

Athem's intelligence was not only reflected in her high school graduation from Camden High School but also in her quick wit and ability to make people laugh. She was a talented woman who effortlessly brought smiles to the faces of those around her. Athem's love for her family was her driving force, and her strength was deeply rooted in the joy and pride she took in her children. The words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded," perfectly encapsulates the inspiring life she lived.

She is survived by her mother, Denise Grant; father, Richard Williams; sisters, Charlotte Sr., Laticia Bowens, Towanna Jackson, Alys Williams, Annette Fields, Veronica Fields, and Joyce Fields; brother, Richard (Barbara); and cousin, Tramell Cauiness. Athem was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth and James Rand, and her brother, Mark Grant.

Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating Athem's life on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey, 08093. Viewing will commence at 9:00am EDT and the celebration of life will follow at 11:00am EDT.
