Austin Kerin of Granbury, Texas passed away on Thursday March 14, 2024. He was born in Herkimer, New York on July 20, 1940.
Austin is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Joyce, six children, nineteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In 1957 he graduated High School where he was a star basketball player and immediately enlisted in The United States Air Force where he served for twenty years including a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to1969. In 1977 he retired from the Air Force out of March Air Force Base in California and went to work for Motel 6 as their VP of construction. When Motel 6 moved their headquarters to Dallas, Texas in 1988 he relocated to the DFW Metroplex. After working for several years for Motel 6 he went to work for La Quinta Hotels as their VP of Construction and moved to San Antonio, Texas where he retired for the second time. After becoming bored with retirement, he went to work for another hotel company, also in the same position, and moved to New Jersey for several years.
Once he decided to retire for good, He and Joyce relocated back to Texas and settled in Granbury. Austin was an avid golfer during his time in the Air Force and after his retirement into civilian life and finally as a retiree settling in a home on the second hole of the Nut Cracker Golf Club at Pecan Plantation. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
