Born on April 21, 1953, in Ft. Benning Georgia, Barbie was the daughter of the late George E. Bland and Hazel Brock Bland. She graduated from Indiana University. Barbie worked as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 2005. She was an avid animal lover. Her greatest joy was caring for her dogs Winston, Emily, and Chloe, and cats Snickers and Samantha.
She is survived by her niece, Jamie Garris and her husband Eugene, Nephew Jimmy Tagert and his wife Brandy, and Nephew Joey Tagert; great nieces and nephews, Joshua Garris, Luke Garris, Hattie Garris, Cayden Tagert, Carter Tagert, Hailey Tagert and Hannah Tagert. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Huiras, parents George and Hazel Bland and sister Patricia Dee Tagert.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church located at 4535 Piney Church Rd, Waldorf, MD 20602.
Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Charles County, P. O. Box 1015 Waldorf, MD 20601, online at www.humanesocietycc.org.
