Ms. Barbara Moore

Barbara Faye Moore, affectionately known as "Munner" by her loving grandson, was born the youngest of three on January 6, 1950, to Joseph Carey and Hattie Pearl McNeely in Morrilton, Arkansas. She quietly departed her earthly dwelling in her sleep on March 2, 2025.
Barbara lived most of her life in Kansas City, Missouri, in the same neighborhood and home as her childhood. She attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. In 1970, she married Harry Frank Moore Jr. to this union, they welcomed their only child, Harriette Frances, into the world that same year.
Barbara was a member of Cleveland Ave Baptist Church for many years. Barbara regularly attended Triumph Church in Detroit when visiting her grandson and daughter, who are active members.
Barbara earned her associate's degree in liberal arts from Penn Valley Community College in 1984. She was one of the first employees of Sprint (telecommunications) and worked there for over twenty years before retiring in 2010. She gave back to the community by volunteering for various Kansas City events; her favorite was the annual Juneteenth KC Celebration. In 2012, she gained the status she had long desired to achieve: grandmother! Anyone who knows her knows about her love for Bilal and Bilal's love for his Munner. Barbara's bright smile and observative nature leaves behind a legacy of love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joseph Carey McNeely Jr.; nephew, John E. Wright; niece, Ma'Kenna McNeely; and friend, Marsha Harper.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Harriette Moore-Kovac (Rifat); grandson, Bilal; sister, Carolyn Wright; and many loving relatives; and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery.
