Barbara Jean Singleton, 86, went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ April 21, 2022. She was born August 9, 1935 in Oakland City, the daughter of Clarence and Pearl (Sowder) Edwards, later moving to Princeton where she lived most of her life. Barbara began her walk with the Lord at the early age of 11 and continued throughout her life becoming a member of Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton where she attended until her death.
Barbara graduated from Princeton High School in the class of 1953 and the University of Evansville in 1982. She started her working days at Greeks Candy Store, Spencer's Grocery, Hirsch's Dept. Store, The Princeton Telephone Company where she worked as an operator for 10 years, and Potter and Brumfield/Siemens, retiring in 1998 after 22 years with the company. After retirement, she felt very fortunate to sub-teach at Bethel Christian School and sub as the secretary of Bethel Memorial Church. Having time on her hands, she loved using the talent that God gave her for sewing, crocheting, and giving to make someone's day a little brighter.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Singleton on January 2, 2010 after 55 years of marriage; her friend, Cargill Wilson; mother, Pearl Edwards; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Edwards and Betty Edwards.
Surviving Barbara are her children, Vickie Collins (Gerald), Richard Singleton, Michael Singleton (Mechele), and Nick Singleton (Nita); grandchildren, Amanda Brown (Greg), Jennifer Ricer (Steven), Mende Gailbraith (Dustin), Maurica, Richard II, Darrien, Isabella (Pat), Melina, Heath (Jamie), Austin (Kaitlyn) and Andy Singleton. Also surviving are several of her great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2022 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Colvin Funeral Home is honored to care for the Singleton family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Bethel Christian School or to the Gibson County Council on Aging where Barbara enjoyed spending time in her later life.
