It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Belinda Gale (Zinke) Reiter a loving mother, a remarkable woman, and a dedicated professional in the field of Nursing. She passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 74 leaving a void her family cannot fill. She was born in Midland, Texas on May 19,1950 to Erlene Verna Dodson and Harold Brazil.
She graduated from Roscoe High School in Roscoe, Texas. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Nursing from Jacksonville State University in May 1976 and began her career as a registered nurse. She served in the United States Army Nurse Corps where she did many things including having cared for pedantic patients during air flights and earned the rank of Captain. Upon her honorable discharge from the military, she went on work as a registered nurse in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Over the years, she served as director of nursing of four medical clinics as well as a neonatal intensive care unit and functioned as an on call sexual assault examiner.
She graduated from Texas Women's University in May 1997 with a Master of Science in Nursing. She then began her career as a dedicated Family Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and shortly thereafter moved to Mena, Arkansas. For over two decades she provided care to patients in the hospital, nursing home, and went on to own and operate a private practice. She strongly believed patients have the right to compassionate, individualized, holistic, and evidence-based care. She was active within the community as a business owner and was a member of the International Rotary Club for a time. She advocated for the nursing profession through her membership of multiple associations and through teaching including providing preceptorship to nursing students. The only thing she was more passionate about than nursing was her family. She loved fiercely and always made it a point to make special memories. She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother who was tirelessly supportive, kind, and witty and we will all miss her dearly.
Belinda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Pamela McCombs. She is survived by her husband of 23 years and the love of her life Douglas Reiter; her son James Zinke; daughter Jenna and son in law Cobry Campbell; stepdaughter Heather Milazzo; stepson Marc Reiter; grandchildren Lynus, Laynee, Lyle, Lynden, Alex, Marissa, and Miranda;
Her sister Joan and brother-in-law Rodd Wheeler; her nephew Buck McCombs; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marc and Nancy Reiter; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kari and David Hurlbert; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jeff and Linda Taylor; and a host of other cherished family and friends.
A private grave side service will be held by the family. Cremation services are under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Belinda, please visit our Tree Store.
