Otto C. Reiter, Jr., age 96, passed away peacefully at 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at EverVella of Swansea in Swansea, Illinois.
He was born on January 29, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of the late Otto C. and Gladys (Anderson) Reiter, Sr. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Brentwood High School.
In 1959, Otto married the love of his life, Konnie (Riggle) Reiter. In 1969, they built their dream home and moved to Ballwin, where together they raised four children and built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Otto lived a long and full life, marked by devotion to his family and deep love for Konnie. He spent much of his career in sales, working for Xerox and later with Gundaker Realtors, where he was known for his hard work, warmth, and ability to connect with people. Outside of work, Otto found joy in tending his garden and following his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite saying, "family is everything," was not only his motto but also the guiding principle of his life.
He is survived by two children: Rob (Carrie) Reiter of O'Fallon, IL, and Kelley (Lenny) Brondum of Madisonville, LA; his brother Terry Reiter and sister Vicki (Reiter) Kamphoefner; grandchildren Daniel, Melanie, Annie, and Sam; and great-grandchildren Madison and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Konnie; two daughters, Kim Reiter and Teri Reiter; and his brother Bob Reiter.
Otto's 96 years were a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of family. He will be remembered for his gentle strength, kindness, and the example he set for all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held, with details to follow.
