Benjamin Reed Wilson, 23, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on August 13, 2024. Ben was born on May 8, 2001. As a first-born child, he was cherished by his parents and doted on by grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles.
A man of exciting potential, Ben's career path was decided when he attended a Medieval Times show with his family in Myrtle Beach, SC on summer vacation at the age of 6.
After graduating from Lexington High School, Ben worked at Travinia's Italian Restaurant and Crumbl Cookie in Lexington, SC.
His big break came when he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in May of 2023 to work at Medieval Times. He was a Squire (Knight's Apprentice) and added the role of "the Executioner" – kicking off the show by loudly cracking a whip to the delight of the audience.
Ben was posthumously promoted to the rank of Knight by his fellow Medieval Times Knights and will be buried in the colors of the Black and White Knight – lofre Santa Creu. lofre Santa Cueu was a man-at-arms and guardian of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage road in modern Barcelona, Spain. Only after his death did the Crown hear of his story and knight him posthumous.
In a conversation with his father earlier this summer, Ben stated that, if given a choice, his desire was to always play the role of the black and white knight in the show. When his father asked "why?" Ben responded, "Because he was a warrior priest."
Ben loves and is loved beyond measure by his family, friends, and co-workers. He is fiercely loyal.
Ben is a believer in the saving power of Jesus Christ. He believes that fear is a choice.
Ben is survived by his parents Jonathan & Jennifer Wilson; siblings, Courtney Wilson (MacDowell), and Jackson Wilson; grandfather, Homer Wilson and Step-Grandmother, Marion Wilson, and Grandmother, Donna Wilson.
Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Leesburg Road in Columbia, SC on August 19th at 11 am. Funeral services begin at 12 noon. A graveside service will be held across the street at 1pm, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ben's memory to "U-Turn for Christ" (a ministry of Calvary Chapel in Lexington, SC). Specify "Ben Wilson - Memorial Donation."
Ben's kindness, generosity, love, and compassion will be cherished by all who know him. He touched many lives. He will be remembered with awesome love, and unmatched gratitude. Ben is a loving son, brother, and friend.
Come celebrate our son's life with us.

My first memory of Ben was when I started at Crumbl cookies, we were talking and we just clicked he was a super sweet guy turns out he also worked with my boyfriend at Lowe´s. I got a great friend out of meeting him.

Everytime Ben came over to my family's house he always had a smile on his face. He helped my family in ways most thought impossible and all he asked for in return was good company. You felt kindness and embraced when around him. He was the man you wanted in your corner, no matter what the world threw at you. Rest easy, you deserve it.
