Bernard Gray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graves Medley Funeral Services on Dec. 11, 2025.
With grateful hearts for a life well-lived, we celebrate the home going of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Bernard Gray, affectionately known as "Beans". He was born October 26, 1991 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Bernard E. Gray, Sr. and the late April Jamie Young. For as long as we can remember, Bernard wanted to live life to the fullest and was always wearing a smile with a hearty laugh that will be unforgettable. Upon moving to Bridgeport, CT. in 1998, he graduated from Central High School in 2010. He transitioned into the workforce, wearing different employment hats, gaining a vast level of knowledge and experience. He worked hard to secure this position, which brought him the greatest happiness and achievement. His commitment to his team made him, inspired him to wake up daily and hop on board to perform at the highest level. Outside of work, Bernard was all about family and friends, holding them close in heart and doing anything under the sky to support them in any way possible. If he wasn't buying new clothing and toys for his nieces and nephews, he was at the car wash or the barber shop arranging to meet friends for dinner. He lived a fast-paced dynamic life, updating his wardrobe ongoing with shoes, cologne and new cars, looking dapper and always upbeat, encouraging everyone around him to look and feel the same way. He was a fierce protector of his loved ones and would go above and beyond to prove his commitment. His legacy of love and strength will be forever treasured by family and friends, saying "that's a bet"! Bernard is survived by his father; Bernard Gray, Sr., his siblings; Sharmaine Dallas ( Derrick), Kamal Gray (Nina), Demond Brown (Lil), Nicholas Gray (Melissa), and Jacob Gray (Athena), his nieces and nephews; Ambrionna Dallas, Nasir Brown, Kamiyah Gray, Geneva Brown, Kamal Gray, Saniyah Brown, Saige Brown, Khasi Gray, Kash Gray, Nyla Brown, April Gray, Nova Brown, Kru Gray and Nico Gray and a host of cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother April Jamie Young. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by a service of celebration at 10:30 am -12:00PM at Cathedral of Praise, 45 Gregory St., Bridgeport, CT. Interment will be private.

I knew Bernard as a Conductor in whom I had a lot of respect. He always had a smile for me, and I saw him offer kindness, smiles and warmth to all the passengers - which matters a great deal. I was always glad to see him. I knew him as a professional in whom I never had a doubt, who I trusted to operate the train safely without issue. I've missed him.

To Bernard´s family, I send my deepest condolences and sympathies. I got to work with Bernard on the railroad and speak with him almost everyday. He was always pleasant, you could see his smile through the phone, fun and easy to work with. A true gentlemen.
He is certainly missed.
A genuine person.
May the Lord be with you and bless you all during this time.
