A funeral service celebrating the life of Bertie Mae Adkins Flenniken, 94, will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, LA, with Linda Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Clear Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.

Mrs. Flenniken was born on March 19, 1930, in Red River Parish, LA to M. B. and Janie Snead Adkins and passed on January 2, 2025, in Katy, TX. Mrs. Flenniken was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport, faithfully serving decades in the choir and as a Sunday School teacher. She also was an avid and skilled quilter, gifting her handiwork to family and friends.

Mrs. Flenniken was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Euland Flenniken; grandson, David “Byron” Thompson, II; brother, Jerry Adkins; and sister, Gwendolyn Bernard. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Marjorie Sandlin; children, Terry Flenniken and Roxana Lavin, Sharon and Tommy Dixon, Carole Flenniken and Bob Petersen, Linda and David Thompson; grandchildren, Mark Flenniken, Megan Flenniken and Andrew Breece, Ellen Flenniken and Kate McCormick, Melody and Al Montez, Jared and Meredith Dixon, Elizabeth and Trent Werth, Lauren Kyzar, April and Chris Winslow; great-grandchildren, Jordan Flenniken, Alexis Flenniken and Kirk Rodriquez, Olin and Henry Breece, Jack Flenniken and Quinn McCormick, Callie and Michael Snider, Caroline Montez, Ian and Robben Montez, Jackson and Maddie Dixon, Grayson, Halle, Ainsleigh, and Emery Werth, Byron, Isaac, and Graham Winslow, great-great-grandchildren; Dean Flenniken and Evan and Emma Snider.

Honoring Mrs. Flenniken as pallbearers will be Grayson Werth, Jackson Dixon, Mark Flenniken, Jared Dixon, Ellen Flenniken, April Winslow, Melody Montez, and Robben Montez.
