It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Bettie Mae Cooper, who left us peacefully on March 24, 2025. Bettie was born on October 27, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family and a cherished friend to many.
Bettie Mae was known for her kindness, warmth, sense of humor, and strength. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She had a special bond with her beloved cat, Sid, who was a constant companion and source of joy in her life. She also found great comfort and camaraderie at the American Legion, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and supporting her community.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Catherine Pearl, and late husband, William A. Cooper Sr. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Dorothea Dailey, William A Cooper Jr and wife Debra D Cooper, Victoria L. Bateman and husband Chris Hebble, Richard Louis Bateman Jr and wife Jennifer L Bateman, Stephanie Bateman and husband Randy Hill, Melissa Cooper Mason and husband Greg Mason. Kiersten Bateman and husband Chaz Tillman, Kamrie Bateman and wife Destiny Whaley, Caitlin Nicholas, Noah Brown, and Sofia Hill.
At her request, no formal service will be held. Bettie Mae will be cremated, and her ashes will be joined with her late husband, William. Their ashes will be kept close to those who loved them. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County or the American Legion in Berlin, Maryland, in her memory.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in our hearts, and she will be remembered with love and gratitude.
