Betty Irwin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 4, 2025.
Betty A. (Harris) Irwin passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on June 12, 1956, in Roseville, CA, to Alma M. Harris and Earl F. Harris. The youngest of three children, Betty grew up in a loving family that eventually settled in their forever home on Hwy 26 near Linden, CA. She attended Glenwood Elementary and Linden High School, where she was active in FFA raising sheep and served proudly as a majorette in the Linden High School Marching Band. She graduated from Linden High School in 1974.

Betty remained in the Stockton/Linden area, raising her three children close to home. While raising her family, she attended San Joaquin Delta College and completed the nursing program, becoming a registered nurse in 1987. She began her nursing career at Doctors Hospital of Manteca in the Med-Surg department. In 1989, she joined the U.S. Army Reserves as a Second Lieutenant. Two years later, in 1991, she began her long career with the California Department of Corrections as a prison nurse, where she worked until her retirement in 2015.

Following retirement, Betty divided her time between her children in Linden, CA, and Crawfordville, FL, officially becoming a Florida resident in 2017. Her greatest joy in life was her four grandchildren. She loved traveling with them and took every opportunity to attend their sporting events and performances.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Earl Harris, and her brother, Phil Harris.

Betty is survived by her children Shelley Joaquin-Williams (Jonathan) of Linden, CA; JoAnna Carraway (Christopher) of Crawfordville, FL; and Nick Joaquin (Debbie) of Stockton, CA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren-Haydon Williams, Carlee Joaquin, Colton Williams, and Madalyn Carraway, her sister, Bonnie Rhea of Stockton, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
