Billie Irene Mayo was called to eternal rest on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 1:15 a.m. She was born September 7, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Hazel Jolivette Hebert and Walter Adam Hebert.
Billie graduated from Charlton Pollard High School of Beaumont, Texas where she remained an active alumni and supporter. She had a fulfilling career as an educator in Special Education with Northside Independent School District. Her dedication and love for teaching left an indelible mark in the lives of her students and those she sponsored from the Baptist Children's Home.
Her life was a tapestry of devotion and service to her family and community. She faithfully dedicated time to daily prayer and was a parishioner of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. She married her childhood sweetheart Carl Mayo, on December 27, 1958 with whom she raised their four daughters. Billie always had a keen sense of style enhanced by her impeccable seamstress and pattern making skills. The family had the honor of being adorned in her original creations. She shared her love through food made from scratch and wrapped each family member in matching crochet blanket and pillow sets. In retirement she enjoyed spending time in the yard honing her green thumb, painting yard ceramics and listening to her music collection.
Her daughter Deborah Mayo of San Antonio, Tx. survives her; Son in law Daryl Simpson of Woodbridge, VA. Grandchildren, Thalia Simpson and Tulane Simpson; Daughter, Leticia Reaux (Dalton III) of The Colony, Tx. Grandchildren, Drake Reaux and Saxon Reaux; Great-Granddaughter Adalynn Reaux. Daughter, Felicia Mayo-Castillo (Raul JR.) of San Antonio, Tx. Grandchildren, Dominick Castillo, Deena Castillo, Jacky Castillo and Lyriq Castillo. Iva Ann Monette, her only surviving sibling and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her loving husband Carl K. Mayo preceded her in death, her precious daughter Carleen Mayo-Simpson; grandson Raul Castillo III and both her parents Walter Hebert and Hazel Jolivette Hebert and sister Patricia Taylor.
HE will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Revelation 21:3-4 NIV
