Billy Joe Colbert, 91, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born January 1, 1934 to the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Walsh) Colbert. Billy lived a life marked with service, love, and deep commitment to his family and community. Billy proudly served in the United States Army where his dedication and discipline became the foundation of his character. After his military service, he became a skilled electronic technician at Western Electric Company where he contributed to the company for many years. A true outdoorsman, he spent countless hours enjoying nature, and his passion for amateur radio allowed him to connect with others forging lasting friendships. His pride and joy was his 1963 Chevy Nova that he entered into many car shows where he and Pat spent many hours meeting many people. A devoted member of the Rosefarm Church of Christ, Billy served as a deacon and treasurer for many years, deeply involved in his faith community. He was also a member of the local Sounds of Faith Community Gospel Choir where his love for music and community shone brightly. Additionally, Billy volunteered with the Red Cross, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to helping others in need. Billy's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by three loving daughters, Jill Golaszewski, Beth Thoma, and Barbara "Jeannie" (Ken) Estep, who will forever cherish the precious memories they created together. He was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, Paul (Jenny) Thoma, Nicholas (Stephanie) Thoma, Katie Golaszewski, Kelly (Nick) Ganger, Billy Golaszewski, Sarah Estep, and Nathan Estep. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Stacey (Andrew) Fedykiv, Nicholas (Kallie) Thoma, Cydney (Dakota) Williamson, Jackson Ganger, and Asher Pinkstock, and his great-great grandchildren; Lucus Thoma and Annaliese Fedykiv. The love Billy had for his family was immeasurable as was the pride he felt in their accomplishments. He was a steadfast source of support, encouragement, and unconditional love. Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife who passed away just 65 days before, Patricia (nee: Redman) Colbert whom he married on November 12, 1955; his parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Colbert; his sister, Barbara Fleming and his grandson, Kyle Thoma.  Family and friends may visit to pay respects 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Friday, January 24, 2025 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N.
