Blonnie Wilkes Dodson, Jr., 97, resident of Columbia and owner of Wilma’s Fashion, Died Saturday, January 11, 2025 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Terry Jones and Doug Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the service time at Oakes & Nichols.

Born March 29, 1927 in Santa Fe, TN, he was the son of the late Blonnie Wilkes Dodson, Sr., and the late Ailene McNeal Dodson. Mr. Dodson proudly served his county as a machinist in the 969th Engineering Company in the United States Army. During 1946 and 1947, he was stationed in both france and Germany. On November 30, 1950, he was happily married to Wilma Young Dodson, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2016. Mr. Dodson was a lifetime member of The Elkes Lodge # 686. Wilkes was the past president of The Columbia Downtown Business Association, past president and vice president of the Island Sunrise Owner’s Association, Gulf Shores Ala., and was a member of the Southern Middle TN Association of Realtors Inc. Mr. Dodson was a member of Berea Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Dodson; Daughter, Beverly (Clay) Harris; grandchildren, Shane (Crystal) Keith, Amy (Bobby) Meacham, Joshua Dodson, Jennifer Dodson; great grandchildren, Chandler (Fiancée Morgan) Rich, Megan (Trent) McCrory, Devin (Shelby) Keith, Seth (Courtney) Keith, Kobe Dodson; great great grandchildren, Beau Keith, Luke Keith, Harper McCrory, Bonnie McCrory brother, Dwight Dodson; sisters, Lenora Hunter and Elaine Amlin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Gibson; brother in laws, Andy Hunter, Billy Gibson and Lyle Amlin.
Active pallbearers will be Shane Keith, Joshua Dodson, Devin Keith, Chandler Rich, Seth Keith, and Trent McCrory. Honorary pallbearers will include the men of Berea Church of Christ and members of The Elks Lodge #686.
