Bobby Boughton Obituary
On March 16, 2025, Bobby Boughton closed his eyes in death at the Randolph Hospice House. Born in Chicago, IL, on July 22, 1945, Bobby's life was a tapestry woven with deep faith, love for family, and a commitment to his community. His passing marks a terrible loss for those who knew and loved him, and he will be truly missed. Bobby dedicated many years of his professional life as a custodian with the public school system, where his attention to detail and dedication to service left a lasting impact. Outside of work, he had a vibrant personality and a variety of interests. A devoted fan of Chicago sports teams, he could often be found cheering on the Bears, the Bulls, and the Cubs. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing card games like Bid Whist and Spades, known to keep a game going well into the night. Bobby had a passion for dancing, always the first to step out onto the dance floor, and was renowned for his singing abilities, able to hit higher notes than even Smokey Robinson. His voice was most frequently heard singing kingdom praises with heartfelt devotion. Bobby was baptized on June 21, 1953, in the Hudson River, New York, and his strong love for Jehovah was evident throughout his life. His greatest passion lay in serving Jehovah and preaching about God's kingdom to all he met. During the Vietnam War draft, Bobby's conscientious objection led to his imprisonment for four years in Sandstone, MN, a period that strengthened his faith and drew him closer to Jehovah. Despite the hardships, he maintained his spiritual routine and inspired others around him. Known as a true gentleman, Bobby was always there to hold the door for the sisters in his congregation, and never hesitated to offer transportation to those in need. His kind and generous spirit was felt deeply by all who knew him. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Saucer and David Boughton, whose pioneer spirit was a great influence on him, as well as his daughter, Lydia Boughton Lucas, and brothers David Boughton and Norbert Boughton. He is survived by his cherished wife, Cecelia Hoskins Boughton, and his beloved children: Naomi Williams and husband David, Bobby Benjamin Boughton, Jonathan Boughton and wife Karen, Rebekah Muckler and husband Jeffrey, Kikona "Ray" Houston, Anceria "Liz" Houston, and Kiloni Earl Houston. His sister, Christine Curtis of West Evanston congregation, Evanston, IL, also survives him, along with grandchildren Savon Williams, Navidia Williams, Irieyana Boughton, Timothy Lucas, Jackson Muckler, Jacob Muckler, Yvonne Muckler, Giovanni Nicholson, Isaiah Nicholson, Michael Houston and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. While Bobby is no longer with us, we draw comfort in knowing he is in Jehovah's memory, and both family and friends look forward to being reunited with him in an earthly paradise soon to come. A celebration of Bobby's life will be held at a later date.
Revelation 21:3-4 offers hope and solace during this time: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: 'Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with his people. 4. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice of Randolph County for their loving care and support during Bobby's final days. Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service in Asheboro is honored to assist the family of Mr. Bobby Boughton during this difficult time.
