Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford
Bobby Wilson Hutchins Sr., 92, passed away on November 12, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.
A memorial service will be held on November 18, 2025 starting at 1:00 p.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church (304 CR 101, Oxford, MS 38655), with Bro. Chris Williams officiating.
Bobby was born on April 5, 1933 in Big Creek, Mississippi to the late Billie Dubois Rotenberry and Wilson Hutchins.
In his younger years, Bobby reveled in traveling to new places, collecting stories and experiences that he generously shared with friends and family. His love for aviation was sparked as a child when he crafted stick planes, a hobby that evolved into a remarkable journey.
Throughout his extensive career with the Federal Aviation Administration, he made significant contributions in electronics and airway facilities throughout his time in Panama, Puerto Rico, and Miami. At just 17, he proudly earned his pilot's license. He thoroughly enjoyed flying and building model airplanes. Even after he hung up his wings in 2008, he held onto his pilot's license.
Bobby possessed a remarkable eye for photography, capturing the beauty around him and preserving memories in every frame. His passion for history was equally profound. As a dedicated member of the Historical Society at Coffeeville, he delighted in sharing his knowledge and love for the past with others, fostering a sense of connection within his community.
After a fulfilling career, Bobby made the decision to retire, eager to pursue his passion for technology and foster connections within his community. This led him to open his own computer business, where he poured his heart and expertise into helping others navigate the ever-evolving world of technology.
He also remained deeply committed to making a difference in his community. As a Deacon at North Oxford and a beloved Sunday School teacher, Bobby touched the lives of many, nurturing the faith and hearts of those he served.
Bobby's greatest joy was his marriage to his beloved wife, Mrs. Bobbie Hutchins, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years. Their enduring love created a beautiful family, who will forever hold his memory close and carry on his legacy of kindness and adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nan Haines (Jimmy) of Dallas, TX, and Lesli Hutchins (Cindy) of Starkville, MS; his son, Bob Hutchins Jr. (Kellie) of Franklin, TN; his grandchildren, Noelle Haines Haddad (Wissam), Dallas, Hutch Haines (Tori), Fredericksburg, VA, Anna Haines, Charlotte, NC, Hunter Haines, Dallas, Riley Hutchins (Emily), Los Angeles, CA, Lauren Hutchins Jones (Jake), Nashville, TN, Sean Hutchins, Franklin, and Brooklyn Latham, Starkville; one great-granddaughter, Ella Haddad of Dallas; his five sisters, Sharon Harbin of Grenada, MS, Karen Hancock (Allen) of New Albany, MS, Robin Miller (Robert) of Bartlett, TN, Nancie Weems (Dennis) of Olive Branch, MS, and Candy Tallant of Coffeeville, MS; and his brother, Bill Rotenberry (Shelly) of Coffeeville.
Bobby is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Hutchins; his mother, Billie Dubois Rotenberry; his father, Wilson Hutchins; and his sister, Lynn Loftin.
