Bobby Dean Riddle

Bobby Dean Riddle, 93, of Ada, OK, passed away peacefully on August 19th , 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 10, 1932, in Oklahoma City, OK to Bernice and Irene (Yoakum) Riddle. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1949. A proud veteran, Bobby enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 at the young age of 16. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the 45th infantry during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, stationed in both Japan and Korea. At the age of 19, he was promoted to squad leader in combat on the front lines. During his time in the military, Bobby received multiple awards and honors for his heroic service and dedication to his country. He also played two years of football for The Thunderbirds while in the Army. After his honorable discharge, Bobby attended Central State College in Edmond, OK on a football scholarship, where he was awarded Outstanding Athlete of the Year during both his Freshman and Senior years. Bobby met Donna Fern Horton during his time at Central State. They were married on May 24,1953 in the Chapel of Central State. He would always say Donna was the prettiest girl on campus, and he was the most outstanding athlete, so of course everyone wanted to attend the biggest event of the year at the college. Bobby went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Central State in 1956 and Master's Degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK in 1966. Bobby was a very loved and well-known teacher and coach at Camarillo High School in Camarillo, CA where he retired from education in 1989 after 33 years. He was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed fishing, playing cards, giving swimming lessons to grandchildren, watching sporting events, grilling out and spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Bernice and Irene Riddle; wife, Donna Riddle; brothers – Roy Riddle, Floyd Riddle, and Glen Riddle; sisters – Beatrice Gilley, ImaJean Sheffield; and granddaughter, Regina Bradley. Bobby is survived by his two daughters – Janet and husband Donald McCarty of Ada, OK and Karla Scott of Wynnewood, OK. Four grandchildren – Kristi and husband Jay Mitchell of Ada, OK, Shelby and husband Tyler Tadlock of Ada, OK, Risha and husband Wesley Lindsey of Wynnewood, OK, Kaylee and husband Bret Dunn of Wynnewood, OK. Seven great grandchildren – Madyson, Paisley, Caden, Jaxon, Jenson, Alaia and Bryndel, as well as sister Linda and husband Santos Hernandez of Lawton, OK and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at DeArman's Funeral Home in Wynnewood, OK officiated by Russell Brewer, with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood.
