Bonnie Jo Strain, born on May 31, 1957, to Joseph M. Strain, Sr. and Bonnie Sue Strain, passed away on December 16, 2024. Named in honor of both her parents, Bonnie carried the legacy forward with grace and dedication throughout her life.
Bonnie earned a Master's degree in Education and devoted 39 years to public education, teaching students from kindergarten through high school and retired from teaching at Brighton High School. Though she had no children of her own, she touched the lives of hundreds of students who where fortunate to call her their teacher. Her passion for learning was evident not only in her career, but also in her personal life as an avid reader and lover of trivia. She inspired countless young minds and was a steadfast presence for friends and family alike.
A long-time member of the Clopton United Methodist Church, Bonnie found strength and community in her faith. Her warmth and commitment to those around her left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Bonnie is lovingly remembered by her brother, Joseph (Diane) Strain, Jr. and her sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Vandergrift. She is also survived by her four nephews, Joseph (Ashley) Strain, III, Justin Strain, Wesley Strain and Matt Vandergrift; two nieces, Jennifer Strain and Ashley (Brandon) Rich; a great niece, Claire and three great nephews, Drew, Levi and Tucker. Bonnie's love for her family was unwavering and she cherished every moment spent with them.
May Bonnie's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and serve as a reminder of a life well lived in service to others.
A celebration of life service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 28 at the Clopton United Methodist Church with inurnment to follow in the Clopton Cemetery Columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
