In Loving Memory of Bonnie Vale Lois Tignor
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bonnie Vale Lois Tignor on May 21, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on February 21, 1943, in San Diego, CA, Bonnie lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. Fondly known as the "lunchroom lady," for many years at Pottsboro ISD, she was still recognized by former students years later. She was supportive of her children in all of their activities in school, from PTA president to their loudest cheerleader at a sporting event. Then when grandchildren came along, she attended their events whenever she could. Her grandchildren were all close to their Nana and adored her as much as she adored them. Bonnie was deeply engaged in her community, enjoying time with her bridge playing buddies, shuffleboard and bean bag friends, and her golf ladies team "the Niners,". She was a cherished presence at Lake Texoma VFW, the American Legion, Tanglewood Golf Club, and St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was part of the beloved "Back Row Joes."
Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Hersey of Pottsboro, TX.
She is survived by her loving brothers, Cliff Hersey of Lancaster, TX, and Rick Hersey of Las Vegas, NV. She leaves behind her children, Francine Thompson (Johnny) of Calera, OK, Suzette Smith (Johnny) of Denison, TX, and Woody Tignor (Sherri) of Greenville, TX. Bonnie was also a proud grandmother to Clay Tignor (Lincoln, UK), Joshua Tignor (Richmond, VA), Alex Tignor (Colorado Springs, CO), Dylan Smith (USMC deployed), Allyson Wideman (Fort Worth, TX), Terra Phillips (Calera, OK), and JC Thompson (Calera, OK), along with six great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
A Rosary will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Denison, TX, on Sunday, May 25th, from 5:30 to 6:00 PM, followed by visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will take place May 26th at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Denison. Pallbearers will be Clay Tignor, Josh Tignor, Alex Tignor, Caleb Wideman, Johnny Smith, and Bob Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made in her name to Meals on Wheels of Texoma or Denison Animal Welfare Group, two causes she supported with her modest income.
Bonnie will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
