LOWELL-Brian D. Hand, 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Brian was born in Lowell on Christmas Day, 1964 to Daniel and Arlene (Newcomb) Hand. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Greater Lowell Technical High School. For the majority of his working career, Brian was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Tewksbury State Hospital, first as an orderly, then as a Campus Police Officer. When he was employed at Tewksbury Hospital as a State Campus Police Officer he was very dedicated and committed to his role. As many people that worked there and still work there say "he was the sharpest looking guy on the force." He would always make sure his uniform was ironed, belt and hardware was buffed and shoes were shined every night for the next day.
He loved spending quality time with me and his granddaughters. Always treating them to snacks or setting a breakfast date. And always called to say goodnight and "give the girls a kiss for me". He was an avid sports fan especially to all the Boston and New England teams but he was also known to enjoy any and all sport games that were on TV. As much as he loved sports he loved a good bet to go with it, always knowing the spreads and making his big parley bets. Prior to his illnesses he enjoyed golfing with his brothers and friends, going up to the old Rockingham Park, Suffolk Downs or even Saratoga to watch and bet on the horse races. He loved to sit outside and listen to rock n roll music thru his headphones and even attended concerts whenever he could. He absolutely loved Eddie Money and attending his shows up at the Casino Ballroom almost every time he was scheduled to be there. He was fortunate enough to attend his last show with me in 2019.
Brian is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Gaudette and her husband Brendan of Dracut; his two grandchildren, Juleah Gaudette and Aubrey Gaudette; his step daughter, Nicole Brule of Lowell; many nieces and nephews; his cousins, Dave Ruszczyk and Diane Wallace, and his best buddies Reinaldo Rego and Percy Coleman. He also leaves his former wife, Kathy Brule Hand of Lowell. Brian was the brother of the late Arlene Hand Colon, Daniel Hand, Robert Hand, and Susan Hand Toledo.
