Bruce Winder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home - Oberlin on Oct. 1, 2025.
Bruce Allen Winder, 69, of Oberlin, Kansas, passed away on July 1, 2025 in his hometown.
Born on October 5, 1955, in Oberlin, Bruce was a proud graduate of Oberlin High School, Class of 1973. He went on to earn a degree in Computer Science from Kansas State University later in life, a testament to his determination and love of learning.
Bruce was well known in the community as the owner and operator of Winder Tree Service, where he worked hard and built a reputation for honesty, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
He married Terry Williams in 1975, and though their marriage ended in 1986, their time together brought two sons whom he cherished deeply-James and Eric Winder.
Bruce found great joy in the outdoors. He loved the mountains, hot springs, working with wood, camping, traveling, and spending time playing cards and dominoes with friends and family. His presence lit up any gathering, and his stories, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his sons: James (Jackie) Winder and Eric (Sara) Winder; grandchildren: Carmen Winder and Cheyenne Winder; siblings: Jerri (Winder) and Bob Fogg, Kent Winder and Lisa Baker; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elsie (Craig) Winder, and his brother Evan Winder.
Bruce's life will be honored in a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to spend time outdoors, plant a tree, or play a game of dominoes in his memory.
