Buddie “Charles” Huckleberry, age 92 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away August 19, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2025 at Dora Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Bruce Sanders will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24th at the funeral home.
Charles was born November 28, 1932 in Vamoosa, Oklahoma to Bud Huckleberry and Rheda Gertrude (Ingram) Nolner. After graduating from Vamoosa High School, he proudly served in the Air Force. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1978 from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma in Sociology and Psychology, and he retired as a Correctional Officer for the Department of Correction in Lexington, Oklahoma. Charles loved all outdoor activities including fishing, coon, deer, and turkey hunting. He also enjoyed bow and rifle hunting, and chicken fighting.
He is survived by two sons, Danny James Huckleberry of Konawa, and Chad Anthony Huckleberry of Konawa; four daughters, Charla Cash of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Cheryl Kastl and husband, John of Meeker, Oklahoma, Karen Huckleberry of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Liz Dye and husband, Damon of Silo, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jack Huckleberry.
