Burton Michael Steidley

Burton Michael Steidley passed away on January 31, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on April 17, 1959, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Burt's life was one marked by dedication, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family.
Burt's early years in McAlester were filled with community involvement and academic achievements. He was an active participant in The Boy's Club and had the honor of attending Boy's State in 1976, where he met Governor Boren. His commitment to excellence was evident when he graduated from McAlester High School with the Class of 1977, setting the stage for a life of service and leadership.
On March 21, 2008, Burt married the love of his life, Janice Farmer. Their union was blessed Burt with a daughter, Lacy. Burt's professional life was as impressive as his personal one. Burt was the current Executive Vice President of Bell Financial, where he was a dedicated employee for 38 years. Burt was a faithful member of the Church of Saint Benedict in Broken Arrow.
Burt's generosity extended beyond his professional and spiritual life. He was a passionate volunteer, often found coaching local sports teams. His love for sports was also evident in his unwavering support for Oklahoma State University. As a huge OSU fan, Burt not only cheered for the teams but also supported the university through monetary donations. Family gatherings, especially on the 4th of July and Christmas, were among Burt's favorite occasions. These events were filled with laughter, love, and the creation of cherished memories that his family will hold dear forever.
Burt is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Farmer) Steidley; his daughter, Lacy Godwin and her husband Aaron; his brothers, Tom Steidley and his wife Karen, and David Steidley and his wife Robin. His legacy will also live on through his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who were like family to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Steidley and Darlene (Lorince) Steidley, and his sisters, Julia Steidley Boling and Laura Steidley Stryker. They have now welcomed him with open arms into eternal peace.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel at 528 S. 3rd Street, McAlester, Oklahoma led by Mr. Philip Stizza.
The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Church of Saint Benedict, 2200 West Ithica Street, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma celebrated by the Very Reverend Bryan Brooks with Deacon Dick Berberet assisting.
The Committal Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 15 East Carl Albert Parkway, McAlester, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rice, David Steidley, Tom Steidley, Tim Burran, Aaron Godwin, and T.J. Stryker.
