Byron Sean Prell
March 8, 1973 - September 18, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Byron Sean Prell announce his unexpected passing at the young age of 50.
Byron was born at Edward Hospital in Naperville to John and Lynne Prell. He spent his childhood in Bolingbrook, IL where he enjoyed his community of friends in the Beaconridge neighborhood. He was a bright child who excelled at sports. He participated in travel soccer and was a competitive swimmer for many years. The family moved to
Aurora, IL so he could advance his swimming career at Waubonsie Valley High School. He qualified for state in the medley relay and was a talented breast stroke swimmer. Byron attended University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he received a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. Byron pushed the boundaries in his field, focusing on Womens and Family Health and interned at Options in Reproductive Care in La Crosse. There he met and then married Kristin (Hunt) on November 21, 1998 in Bolingbrook, IL where they resided post college. Together they raised two amazing children Danny Sean and Leah Mary Katherine. Byron was a loving and devoted father. On March 14th, 2015 Byron married his high school sweetheart Beth (Zimmerman).
Working in human services for many years, he was a passionate advocate to those in need. He returned to school for a Master's in Education at National Louis University and excelled in a variety of classroom settings from Montessori to inner city Chicago. Byron then changed careers to Transportation and Logistics and quickly rose through the ranks from temp to Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics,
Joliet, IL.
Byron and Beth lived in
Matteson, IL while successfully co-parenting Danny and Leah with their mother Kristin (Hunt). Byron and Beth enjoyed their mutual love of the Chicago Blackhawks, their mostly similar musical tastes and many weekend trips antiquing and discovering unique restaurants. Together they adopted a spunky rescue, Reagan who brought much joy and humor to their family life.
Byron was a dynamic and exuberant individual who will forever be remembered for his kindness and compassion.
Byron will be lovingly remembered by wife Beth Prell (Zimmerman), his beautiful children Daniel (Danny) Sean and Leah Mary Katherine, his father John, brother Milton (Melissa) their children, Glynnis and Jerrett, sister Wendi (John) their children, Sydney, Hailey and Cadden and sister Jill (Jeff) their children Gavin (Ashley), Dylan and Colton. Byron held a very special relationship with Beth's cousin, Michelle Sodini, who loved him byeond words. He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous cousins and friends. Predeceased by his mother Lynne (Hook) and mother-in-law Jean (Zimmerman).

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Interment will be private.
