Calvin E. Priest, 92, died Friday, June 28, 2024.
He was a farmer, retired from Durkee Foods, and drove a school bus. During retirement he also worked at Garden Gate Fruit Market and Rudy Tobbe's Greenhouses. A few years back, he was the voice of Freddy the Farmer at the Kentucky State Fair. Calvin was a Navy Veteran, a member of Highview Baptist Church and attended Fern Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Lynn Sharp (Mark Franklin); stepdaughters, Pam Karrer (David) and Vickie Homza (Glenn); grandchildren, Rebecca Sharp-Amshoff (Jacob), Jason Karrer (Brandy), Tim Karrer (Kim) and Jessica Helton (Jon); great granddaughter, Charlotte Amshoff; several step great and great great grandchildren; and brother, Jim Priest (Anna).
His funeral is 12pm Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is after 9am Wednesday until the time of the burial.

Calvin worked in our greenhouses for many years. We loved hearing his stories about how he grew up in the Fern Creek area and his father's strawberry farm. He was a very kind man.
