Candace Kelly

Candace (Candy) Kelly, 72, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2024. She was the loving mother of Nicole (David) Guyer and Patrick (Araseli) Colley; grandmother to James, Grace, and Jack; dear sister to Jacquelyn (Glenda Larson) Kelly and Bridget (Tom) Weinmann.
Born in 1951 to Marie and John R. Kelly, Candy grew up in Glenview, Illinois, with her sisters Jill and Bridget. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Regina Dominican High School, and graduated with a degree in Education from Northern Illinois University where she was an active member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Candy taught middle school English for several years before starting a family, and then transitioned into bookkeeping and treasury work. Glenview always remained a special part of her heart as she spent much of her life there, raising her family and developing lifelong friendships. In her later years, she moved back to Chicago and embraced the dynamic energy of the city.
Candy's greatest pride and joy was her family. As a mother, she was dedicated, nurturing, and always provided unconditional love, wisdom, and guidance to her children, Nicki and Pat. As a grandmother, her love only deepened. James, Grace, and Jack were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She took immense pride in her role as "Nene," showering them with affection at every opportunity.
Candy was known for her humor, generosity, loyalty, and vibrant spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love and unforgettable memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 9:15 am until time of the Mass at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St. in Glenview. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Sr. Paulanne's Needy Family Fund (Sr. Paulanne's Needy Family Fund | Our Lady of Perpetual Help) in her memory.
