Virginia Beach - Carl Johan Coldiron, aged 80, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA. Born on December 17, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, Carl lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Carl honorably served his country, dedicating 20 years of his life to the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his service to the community as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service until his second retirement.
He had a passion for amateur radio, often spending hours connecting with fellow enthusiasts around the world. Carl also found peace in fishing and cherished his travels, particularly his visits to Scotland, a place that held a special place in his heart.
Carl was a proud member of the Masons and a Vietnam Veteran, organizations which reflect his values of brotherhood and service.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Coldiron Jr. and Borgny (Helwig) Coldiron; his devoted wife, Isabella MacNeil (Aitken) Coldiron; and his brother, Jan Coldiron.
Carl leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends. He is survived by his daughter, Carlene, and her husband Dan Mittendorff; his brother, James "Jimmy" Coldiron III and his wife Lee; his sisters, Karen Jiminez, Marina Coldiron & Carmen Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl will be interred at Rosewood Memorial Park alongside his wife at a later date. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting Carl's family during this difficult time. Friends and family are invited to share memories and express condolences at CandFServices.com.
Carl Johan Coldiron will be remembered as a man of honor, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
