Carl Emil Empey

Carl Emil Empey at the age of 90 of Boise returned home to his loving father on June 3, 2025.
Carl was born February 21, 1935, in Ogden, Utah to Raymond Bert Empey and Nancy Eureka Eklund. He was the youngest of 5 children. A sister Lucille C. Weir, brother Ray E. Empey, sister Ruth Brown, brother Byron "Bert" Empey.
Carl attended Ogden High School. As a young teen Carl enjoyed working at his brother Bert's drive-in, Big Mug Cafe in Ogden. He was a member of a roller-skating club at the Berthana Ballroom and Roller Rink where he competed in figure skating. Carl met his future wife Mary Wood at the roller-skating club at Berthana's where they became pair figure skating partners. They were married on June 11, 1955. They moved to Boise, ID where their first two sons Terry "Scott" and David Brian were born. They briefly moved back to Ogden where their third son Robert Carl was born. They returned to Boise, ID where their fourth son Kevin Douglas was born. Carl and Mary later divorced.
Along with working at the Big Mug Cafe Carl worked at Hill Airforce Base repairing linkage and cables on military aircraft. In Boise, Carl and Mary worked at Skateland teaching skating and coaching figure skating. Carl worked for Western Maintenance for several years before retiring.
After retiring Carl went on to work at the Rollerdrome in Nampa where he continued to repair skates, work on the floor, teach and coach. Carl was very passionate about roller skating and his Rollerdrome family. Carl roller skated up until the age of 85 and had his boys in roller skates almost before they could walk.
Carl was a huge fan of his sons as they participated in sports wrestling, track, basketball, and football whether it was school or church related. He was a loving father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Carl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his children Scott Empey of Boise, David and Diane Empey of Meridian, Robert and Angela Empey of Nampa, and Kevin Empey of Boise. His grandchildren Cassie Empey of Boise, Hollie and Corom Eisley of Nevada, Tiffany Empey of Boise, Amanda Ramsey of Meridian, Nick Empey of Nampa, Tess Empey of Nampa. His great-grandchildren are Caden Eisley, Jacob Eisley, Liam Eisley, Sophia Eisley, Timothy Ramsey, and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings.
Services will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Visitation June 13th, 2025, at 10:00 with funeral services starting at 11:00 with a dedication of grave to follow.
