With heartfelt remembrance, we honor the life and spirit of Carlie Williams, who was born on April 1, 1927, in Naples, UT. Carlie graced the lives of everyone she encountered with her vibrant energy, fun-loving nature, and exceptional sense of humor. She was a social butterfly who cherished her family above all else, cultivating a particularly special bond with her sons and her beloved granddaughter, Schylar, affectionately known as "Sugar." Carlie's unwavering devotion to her family mirrored the love and dedication she showed in her professional life. As a Secretary Typist for Kaiser Permanente Bellflower California, from which she retired in 1997, Carlie brought diligence, warmth, and a keen attention to detail to her work in the medical field.
Carlie was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a formidable softball player, even into her 60s, and enjoyed a myriad of hobbies including knitting and looming with her granddaughter, quilting, sewing, oil painting, and gardening. An avid reader, Carlie delighted in the suspense of mystery novels and the wisdom of church books. Her love of board games was infectious, as was her talent for baking - her cinnamon rolls were the stuff of legend. Carlie's faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a Relief Society President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Homemaking Leader, and Primary Teacher. She also served as a Missionary in the New York Eastern States Mission. As stated in the Book of Mormon, "Charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him." Carlie's life was a testament to this verse - her charity, love, and faith endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
Carlie is survived by her sons, Carlin (Heather) Williams and Brooke Williams, her granddaughter Schylar, and her twin sister, Carma Richens. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Major Williams, her parents, Jerome and Kate Goodrich, her siblings Vergie Gee, Gawin Goodrich, Halvor Goodrich, Beth Caldwell, Wesley Goodrich, and Vivian Goodrich. We invite friends and loved ones to attend a viewing on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00 AM MDT, at Myers Mortuary in Layton, Utah, followed by a graveside service on Tuesday, March 25, at 11:00 AM PDT, at Porterville Cemetery in Porterville, California.
We invite you to share your memories of Carlie and upload photos to her memorial page, to help us celebrate her remarkable life and the joy she brought to so many. In the words of another verse from the Book of Mormon, "Men are, that they might have joy," and Carlie Williams, in her compassion, love, and vibrant spirit, brought abundant joy to us all.
