Carlos Menchaca, 72, passed away on September 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 6, 1950 in El Paso, Texas and spent his childhood living in Ciudad Juarez before moving to El Paso for high school. A proud Veteran of the Navy serving during the Vietnam War, he retired from a public service career working at El Paso Water. This was a man who enjoyed thinking about the world and building it with his hands. He constructed homes and planted gardens. He was a man of few words yet his grito was epic and unmatched. He loved riding his bike everywhere. He did his best to raise five children who in the end united by his side when it mattered most. He was a friend to many, respected by all. He was predeceased by mother Guadalupe Menchaca, his father Ramon Menchaca and his brother Ramon Menchaca Jr. who died in 1961.
He is survived by his wife and mother of his children Magdalena O. Menchaca; his children Carlos Menchaca Jr., Cristina Dominguez, Erica Ortiz, Abraham Menchaca (Veteran), and Michael Menchaca; his grandchildren Seth Dominguez, Kayla Dominguez, Katelyn Joiner, Kristen Joiner, Troy Joiner, and Dylan Griego and the extended families of Janie Meza and Mary Herrera; the families of his siblings Carmen Ornelas, Elvia Moreno and Ramon Menchaca. His chihuahua dog Shorty will miss him dearly.
