Carol Ann Young Flint

After living a life dedicated to serving others, our sweet Carol Ann, 84, passed away from pancreatic cancer following a recent diagnosis. As this disease progressed rapidly, she remained kind and braved the horrible symptoms with grace and dignity. “Thank you” exemplified her always cheerful demeanor.

 

Carol Ann was born to Whitney L and Marvel Tillotson Young on August 30, 1939, in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Brigham City, Utah, graduating from Box Elder High School and Seminary. She attended BYU and Weber State College. To this day, she kept in close contact with her Brigham City friends and cousins. Carol Ann was the oldest of five siblings, whom she lovingly cared for, sewed clothing for and cherished beyond words.

 

After a Valentine’s Day blind date with the handsome Noel Flint from Layton and then receiving her engagement ring, the following Valentine’s Day, Carol Ann married her eternal companion and sweetheart, Noel D. Flint on September 2, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children: Mark Flint (Denise), Annette Green (Monte), Aaron Flint (Melanie), Lance Flint, Jerald Flint (Julise), eighteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

 

Carol Ann was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings and continued to minister to those around her. She had a great love for her Savior Jesus Christ, and she strived to emulate Him throughout her life. For eighteen months, Carol Ann and Noel served a Temple mission in Nuku’alofa, Tonga where she enjoyed her time serving in the Relief Society, learning the culture and sampling the various foods of this beautiful Polynesian Island.

 

Carol Ann knew the power of a hug, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her gentle demeanor, being charitable, a mentor and confidant. She loved sewing and could mend anything. She loved cooking and creating the finest cuisine imaginable, she inherited a trademark talent in making fabulous fudge, caramels, and divinity and all baked goods, which she loved sharing. She loved to clip and collect recipes which is evident in her vast collection left behind.

 

Carol Ann dedicated her whole life to her family and grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and loved babysitting and spending time with them all. She is treasured for her patience and guidance and for being a grandmother who sat down on the floor to play games, read and do special crafts with. She taught many lifelong lessons in her home and in the car. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and must be remembered for her unconditional love for all.

 

Carol Ann is survived by her husband and children, her siblings, Craig Young (Colleen), Jeanette Willis, Marilyn Braden (Ron) and David Young. She was preceded in death by her parents and precious grandchildren, Bradley, Chelsey and Tyler Flint, Brother-in-law, Reed Willis and Sister-in-law, Stephanie Young.

 

We took solace in the grand reunion she had with her many loved ones. We will miss her dearly but know that she will now be free from her physical ailments, observing the earth, flowers, trees, the beautiful blue ocean waters and majestic mountains, all of which were close to her heart.

 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Pinehurst Ward, 2120 West Gentile Street in West Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Rd, and Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

We know Mom would like her memory honored by talking and laughing around the dinner table, even dancing to a favorite song. She often expressed the importance of always saying “please” and “thank you” and “make someone smile today”. We love and miss you Mom, thank you for being you!
