Carol McDonough, 52, of Caton, NY went home to be with her Lord unexpectedly on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Arnot Ogdon Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Carol was born June 16, 1970 to James and Annette Houpt. She was a lifelong resident of Caton and a 1988 graduate of Corning-Painted Post West High School, where one of her fondest memories was being in the marching band and attending the 1985 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
On August 1, 1992 Carol married the love of her life, David McDonough, and they spent 30 wonderful years together.
Carol had a soft spot in her heart for animals and always had multiple pets throughout her lifetime.
Carol leaves behind her loving husband, David McDonough of Caton; sister, Roberta Button of Rochester, NY; brothers, Robert (Vicki) Houpt of Greenville, SC and Charlie (Lisa) Houpt of Clearwater, FL; mother-in-law, Gail McDonough of Endicott, NY; sister-in-law, Michele (Tom Volpe) McDonough of Evanston, IL; several nieces and nephews; 5 great-nephews; and many special friends she met over the years. Carol also leaves behind her current fur babies: Molly, Maya, Joey, Gabby, Lacey and Luca.
Carol was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Henry Button.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's name can be made to The American Diabetes Foundation or to the SPCA.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 4th from 10am - Noon at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning, NY, with funeral service to follow at Noon with Pastor Sheldon Roblyer officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Caton, NY.
Carol's care was entrusted to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
