Carol Hatch Moss passed away on 4 April 2025 at the home of her daughter in Cedar Hills, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on 15 April 1934, in Panguitch, Utah, the sixth child of eleven, the fourth of seven daughters, born to Martha Heywood Hatch and Roy Cooper Hatch.

Carol spent her formative years in Panguitch where she made friends and had numerous adventures, including working at the Flying M Café and at the Rexall drug store with her sister, Arlene. She enjoyed dances at the old airport hangar in Bryce Canyon and the open-air dance hall in Panguitch. When she was a junior in high school, she moved with her family to St. George, Utah.

Carol attended Dixie High School and Junior College where she met her husband, Carl Lenzi Moss, Jr. She was active in debate at Dixie High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Dixie College and Brigham Young University. She continued her education at Iowa State University and Utah State University.

She and Carl were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 26, 1956, by Elrey L. Christiansen. They were blessed with eight children and lived in Utah, Arizona, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa.

During her life she held several jobs, including as a telephone operator in St. George and while attending BYU in Provo. Later, while living in Iowa, she worked for Amoco Motor Club.

She was faithful in many callings, including Stake Relief Society president in Iowa and Relief Society president in Illinois. She served as scribe to her patriarch husband for 27 years. She and her husband served as ordinance workers in the St. George temple for seven years.

Special memories from her children include seeing her read early each morning from her big, blue copy of the Book of Mormon. She was a wonderful cook, preparing many beautiful meals. Examples of service throughout her life included feeding the missionaries and other ward members together with many other selfless acts. Her homemade bread and rolls were legendary. Favorite hymns included “Love at Home”, “I Often Go Walking”, and “Let Us Oft Speak Kind Words to Each Other”.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Carl. They visited many areas in Utah and throughout the United States. International travel included trips to England, Mexico and Canada.

Carol is predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years, Carl and granddaughter, Caitlin. She is survived by a brother, Rell (Suzanne) Hatch, children: Anne (Bret) Wunderli, Kevin (Sherri) Moss, Julie (Bryce) Hamilton, Melissa Jeppson, Daniel (Jodi) Moss, Jen (Teague) Bengtzen, Cate (Ryan) Larsen, and Joe (Leslie) Moss, and 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

In her final weeks, Carol received compassionate care from Jan Mills of First Choice Hospice, for whom the family will be forever grateful.

A funeral to honor her life will be held Tuesday, 8 April 2025 at 11 AM at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, Utah. A viewing will precede the service at 10 AM. Interment in Panguitch Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Online guestbook and live streaming of the services at www.maglebymortuary.com under Carol’s obituary.
