Carolyn M. Mullenix, age 80, of Echola, AL passed away January 5, 2025 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Dunn's Creek Baptist Church with her son, Jason Mullenix and Bro. Alan Roggli officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harold Mullenix; her parents; sister, Betty Broughton, three brothers, Douglas, Gene and Jimmy Montgomery and an infant brother.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Wood and husband, Evan; sons, Jason W. Mullenix and wife, Dana and John P. Mullenix; sister, Libby Crawford (David); four grandchildren, John Evan Wood (Abby), Ridge A. Wood (Kylie), Nathan Mullenix and Miranda Mullenix; great-grandbaby Wood on the way and a number of nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was born December 9, 1944 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Oliver Patton Montgomery and Mamie Hamner Montgomery. She was a homemaker for much of her life and worked in the sewing industry for most of her working career.
Carolyn instilled in her children the necessity of a relationship with God and the importance of serving Him. She served faithfully in Dunn's Creek Baptist Church for many years.
Carolyn was a loving and supportive wife to her husband of 45 years. She cared for and supported anyone who was in need and would remove their burdens and place them on herself. She, along with her husband Harold, was primary caregiver to their oldest child after an automobile accident in 1989. She devoted the last 35 years to him and his care.
Carolyn spent much of the past 25 years supporting activities of her grandchildren. From baseball and football to dance recitals and baton. She didn't miss an event, sometimes traveling to the beach or extreme north Alabama to be there in support.
Pallbearers will be John Evan Wood, Ridge Wood, Nathan Mullenix, Mike Montgomery, Nick Meade and Steven Crawford.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of Dunn's Creek Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church, friends of the Echola community and Amedisys Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the cemetery fund of Dunn's Creek Baptist Church, c/o Frances Brown, 17477 Browns Dairy Road, Elrod, AL 35458.
