Catherine Basenese "Kay", age 88, of Budd Lake, New Jersey, died on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Born in Newton, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Mary Gladys, She was a lifelong Netcong resident. Catherine married the love of her life, Anthony in August of 1958 and the pair went on to have a beautiful 63 year marriage. Some of her fondest memories were her weekly Saturday night dinners at Ron's Landmark with her husband. Catherine was the proud owner of the Gaslight Lounge in Netcong circle for 25 years and a dedicated worker at A-nets Pub for 10 years.
After her retirement she spent her time enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Catherine could always be found playing a crossword puzzle or reading, she also was known to enjoy old movies.
In addition to her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony Basanese.
She is survived by three cherished children, Anthony Basenese (Joy), Annette McMahon (John), and Steve Basenese; seven grandchildren, Anthony Basenese (Anna), Joseph McMahon (Mariah), Sarah Basenese, Danielle McDonough (Matt), Steven Basenese, Kayla Basenese, and Kara Basenese; as well as four great-grandchildren, Colton McMahon, Jasmine Basenese, Jaycee Basenese, and Bryce Basenese.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main Street, Netcong, NJ 07857.
