Catherine Naberhaus, age 86, of Glendale, Arizona died April 26, 2025 at Thunder Bird Assisted Living in Glendale.
Funeral mass will take place Monday, May 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Holstein, Iowa. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Schaller. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in SCHALLER. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
Catherine Rae Kotz was born March 2, 1939 to John and Mary (Hanrahan) Kotz in Ida Grove, Iowa. She attended school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early, Iowa. In 1957, Catherine graduated from Schaller High School in Schaller, Iowa.
On July 21, 1962 Catherine was united in marriage to George Frank Naberhaus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Schaller. To this union, five children were born: Marcia, Mary Jo, Ann, Connie, and Melissa.
Catherine touched many lives while she worked as a hairdresser until her retirement in 2019.
She was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, assisting at mass by reading and bringing communion to shut-ins. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Joseph's Rosary Society, and Red Hat Society. Dancing brought Catherine great joy. She was known for her freshly baked goods and fun conversations with friends over coffee. She and George shared many trips together. A treasured memory was her trip to Ireland where she made sure to kiss the Blarney Stone. Catherine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Catherine's memory include her spouse, George Frank Naberhaus of Glendale, Arizona; children: Marcia Naberhaus of Sioux City, Iowa; Mary Jo Naberhaus (Tammy Roman) of Rochester, New York; Ann (Tom) Murphy of Glendale, Arizona; Melissa (Isaac) Daniels of Glendale, Arizona; sister: Patricia (Charles) Ryherd of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Ruth (Ryan) Witt of Newell, Iowa; Alexis (Antoinne) Oates of Glendale, Arizona; Dylan (Chase) Murphy of Pheonix, Arizona; Morgan (Rob Helmkamp) Mason of Cottonwood, Arizona; Caitlan (Michael) Zimmerling of Wamego, Kansas; Jason (Sarah Cooper) Mason of Glendale, Arizona; Andrea Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren: Carsen Witt; Austin Witt; Emme Jo Witt; Olivia Oates, Austin Oates, Meyer Murphy, Archer Murphy, Hollis Murphy, Nico Zimmerling, Jessamine Zimmerling, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by Connie (James) Mason of Glendale, Arizona; John (Zeta) Kotz of Kiron, Iowa; and Eugene (Joan) Kotz of Boyer, Iowa.
