Rev. Cecil Guthrie was born April 28, 1944 in Muskogee, OK the son of Virgil and Bertha (Perry) Guthrie. He passed from this life to his heavenly home on May 15, 2025. He was 81.
Cecil grew up in Wainwright, OK and graduated from Wainwright High School in 1961. He went on to attend Connors State College and Southwestern Bible College. He was married to Pat Pippin on November 22, 1962 in Muskogee.
He owned P & G Building and Remodeling for over 30 years. Cecil was a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God. He served as Pastor and Interim Pastor for many churches in his career. His last church was Chandler Road Assembly of God in Muskogee.
Cecil loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with and taking care of his cattle and drinking coffee with the other area farmers and ranchers at the Bulldog Express in Wainwright.
Cecil is survived by his wife Pat of the home; two daughters Cecilia Rhoades (David) and Denise Grimes (Rick); grandchildren Jerrilynn Osterhout (Steven), Clint Guthrie (Ty) and Bailie Grimes; great grandchildren Nathan Osterhout, Ava Osterhout, Gabriel Osterhout, Cheyenne Guthrie, Laramie Guthrie, Lakota Guthrie, Ceneca Guthrie and Kyndell Grimes; brothers - Clarence Guthrie (Helen) and Cleo Guthrie (Eunice); and sister Freda Morgan. He was preceded by a granddaughter Terri Jo Bellis; parents, brothers Charles Guthrie, Virgil F. Guthrie Jr, Leo Guthrie, John Guthrie, Floyd Guthrie and Carrol Guthrie and one sister Lena Mae Hatcher.
Visitation will be Sunday May 18, 2025 from 1 - 8 pm at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 2 - 4 pm at the funeral home on Sunday.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, May 19, 2025 at Chandler Road Assembly Of God. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery under the care and direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Cecil, please visit our Tree Store.
