The family of Mr. Chad Walker gratefully acknowledges all acts of kindness, care and concern shown to them during their time of bereavement and loss. May God continue to richly bless each of you.
Chad Walker was born April 15, 1980 in Durham, North Carolina to the late James and Louise Walker, the youngest of their eight children. In his childhood, he loved to spend quality time with his family and playing with other children in the neighborhood. He enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors and in nature.
When Chad was a preteen, he grew a love for sports and enjoyed football, wrestling, basketball and track, but his love for football overshadowed all other sports. As a teenager, he joined the football team at Person High School as #33, as well as joining the wrestling and track teams. His favorite football team was the Baltimore Ravens and he spent much of his time keeping up with their scoreboard.
While attending high school, he worked at Food Lion as a stocker. During his senior year of high school, Chad welcomed his first child into the world, a beautiful baby girl whom he named Lauryn. He enjoyed being a father and loved taking care of Lauryn.
In his early adulthood, Chad decided to join the Navy and left to go to boot camp, but returned afterwards to take care of his family. During that time, Chad welcomed his second child into the world, a beautiful baby girl whom he named Camille. He loved his daughters and dedicated his time to taking care of and providing for them. He worked at a local moving company, Primetime, as well as at Colin and Aikman-he had multiple jobs to provide for his family during this time because he took pride in caring and providing for them.
Chad resided in North Carolina for a few years after that point in his life until he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the mid 2000's. He loved to travel and have fun. He went on many vacations and enjoyed theme-park weekend retreats with his children. He enrolled in the Art Institute there in 2008 and studied accounting and earned his Associate of Arts degree in 2014. He used that degree to become a loan officer at IBM in Research Triangle Park in 2014 until 2016.
In 2016, Chad lost his vision and his health declined from that point, but he had a strong spirit. The Most High introduced him to the truth around this time. Chad believed that he was an Israelite from the Mighty Tribe of Judah and changed his name to Asa Israel. He lived the rest of his life sharing the truth with everyone that he came across. He changed everything about himself in the past and dedicated his life to waking up the lost sheep because he knew that was his purpose. He followed along with Israel United In Christ and learned a lot from their teachings. He attended a sabbath class in Benton, North Carolina to congregate with them. Chad did his very best to keep all the laws, statutes and commandments for the rest of his time here on earth and he encouraged everyone to do the same. His main goal was to gather as many lost souls to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven because that is what the Most High commanded him to do.
Chad leaves to cherish precious memories three children: Lauryn Walker of the home, Camille Walker of Durham, North Carolina and Diamond Bowers of Henderson, North Carolina; three grandchildren: David Meeks, Jr. and Londyn Meeks, both of the home and Lola Bullard, also of Durham; seven siblings: Marie Robinson (Fred) of Alpharetta, Georgia, Angela Bellamy (Gregory) of Miramar, Florida, Carolyn Hammie of Oxford, North Carolina, Deborah Hersey (Keith), also of Durham, Stacy Hester of Timberlake, North Carolina, Howard Walker (Amanda) of Roxboro, North Carolina and Sherry Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 24, 2023 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with the Reverend Adrian Davis, Pastor at Vernon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, providing the eulogy and the Reverend Dwight L. Wilkerson, Pastor at Dan River Bethel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Vernon Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 80 Vernon Hill Church Road, Oxford, North Carolina 27565.
His body will lie in state at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at the home, 111 Hazel Lawson Road, Roxboro, North Carolina.
